Warning: No license file found on system

Postby jhelffrich » Tue Aug 05, 2014 11:55 am

Hi,
I just installed Arrayfire2.1, and successfully activated a free license. When I try to run the helloworld example, I get the message that "No license file found on the system", even though I confirmed activation. I'm running Linux 14.04 on an Intel core i7-4700 CPU laptop, with NVIDIA GeForce GT750m

Hi,

Can you use the attached license file and check if it works ? Make sure you rename arrayfire.txt to arrayfire.lic.

BTW if you are using GTX 750, please replace the installed version of your libs with those from here:

Where is arrayfire.lic supposed to go? I have no file by that name on my system. BTW, Arrayfire installed itself under /opt/arrayfire on my system, not like in the instructions, which have it in /opt/arrayfire/2.1

I've put copies of the arrayfire.lic file in my home directory, and the /opt/arrayfire and /opt/arrayfire/examples directories. I substituted the zipped libraries you sent for the /opt/arrayfire/lib directory. I'm now unable to get the make process to work, and my previously compiled helloworld_ocl gives an error:
jhelffrich@j-Y510P:/opt/arrayfire/examples/helloworld$ ./helloworld_ocl
./helloworld_ocl: error while loading shared libraries: libafcl.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
...but the file libafcl.so is there:
jhelffrich@j-Y510P:/opt/arrayfire/examples/helloworld$ locate libafcl.so
/opt/arrayfire/lib/libafcl.so
/opt/arrayfire/lib_old/libafcl.so (where I put the old library)
...the contents of my helloworld directory:
jhelffrich@j-Y510P:/opt/arrayfire/examples/helloworld$ ls
helloworld.cpp helloworld_ocl Makefile

Can I have some suggestions please?

Hi

Please make sure of the following steps:
  • Note where this directory is installed. According to your earlier post, this is /opt/arrayfire.
  • In your ~/.bashrc file, add the line
    Code: Select all
    export AF_PATH=/opt/arrayfire
(or other directory where ArrayFire has been installed). Then either restart your terminal or run
    Code: Select all
    source ~/.bashrc
  • Your license file should be at ~/.arrayfire.lic.
You may need to add CUDA and ArrayFire to your LD_LIBRARY_PATH. You can do this by adding the lines below to your bashrc.
Code: Select all
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/cuda/lib/:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/cuda/lib64/:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/arrayfire/lib64/:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH

Try running the ArrayFire examples now. Let me know if you run into further errors.

Hi,
I am still getting errors. I run "make cuda" since I have a GeForce 750m card, and I get "#error: this version of ArrayFire requires CUDA v6.0 toolkit and driver."
Hmm, that's interesting and different. Going to the Nvidia support page for CUDA, v6 is not available for Ubuntu 14.04 yet, latest is 13.04

I guess I'm out of luck.

Looks like you are running an earlier version of CUDA.
The Ubuntu 13.04 x64 version works on 14.04 as well. So go ahead and install that.
