Installing Jacket 2.2 on 64 Bit Windows using 32 bit Matlab

Postby brendanbabb » Sat Jun 30, 2012 11:36 pm

Are there any tricks or a copy of the 32 bit DLLs for using Jacket 2.2 on 64 bit Windows 7 with 32 bit Matlab?

Getting this error:

EDU>> ginfo
Invalid MEX-file 'C:\Program
Files\AccelerEyes\Jacket\2.2\engine\gpu_entry.mexw32': The specified module
could not be found.

Error in C:\Program Files\AccelerEyes\Jacket\2.2\engine\gselect.p>gselect (line
3)
%

Error in C:\Program Files\AccelerEyes\Jacket\2.2\engine\ginfo.p>ginfo (line 76)

Tried copying in 32 bit engine for Jacket 2.0 but it didn't help.

Thanks,

Brendan

Hi Brendan,

Can you try running Dependency Walker as shown below? I'd like to understand what's going on.

* Download the correct version of Dependency Walker for free from http://www.dependencywalker.com
* Run it on gpu_entry.mexw32, present in the engine folder of Jacket
* Save the results using File > Save As , as a *.DWI file.
* Paste the screenshot of what you see in dependency walker here.

Ah, that might be the problem. I don't seem to have the file gpu_entry.mexw32, even after trying the 2.2 install and copying the engine 32 bit 2.1.

I have gpu_entry.mexw64.

Brendan,

That's strange. Can you show us what's happening by uploading a screenshot of your 2.2/engine folder?
Please make sure this is a clean install, i.e free of your previous experiments with copies of 32-bit installs.

To clarify the most recent install I did was the nightly Jacket from July 5th. I uninstalled and removed the Acclereyes directory. Attached is a screen shot of part of the directory with details and a screenshot with all the files listed. Should I be installing a different program like the 32-bit OpenCL Jacket? I was hoping to utilize CUDA currently.

Still getting this error:

EDU>> ginfo
Invalid MEX-file 'C:\Program
Files\AccelerEyes\Jacket\2.2\engine\gpu_entry.mexw32': The specified module
could not be found.

Error in C:\Program Files\AccelerEyes\Jacket\2.2\engine\gselect.p>gselect
(line 3)
%

Error in C:\Program Files\AccelerEyes\Jacket\2.2\engine\ginfo.p>ginfo (line
76)

Thanks for looking into this, I appreciate it, especially on a holiday weekend.

Brendan

Hi Brendan,

The OpenCL and CUDA products are unrelated - you don't need to try that product to fix this. I should also add that the OpenCL product is newer and in an early stage.

Looking at your screenshot, it appears the gpu_entry file is present. it's the file named "gpu_entry" - Windows recognized that as a MATLAB file, and dropped the "mexw32" extension. This is the path:
C:\Program Files\AccelerEyes\Jacket\2.2\engine\gpu_entry.mexw32

Can you load that into dependency walker now?

Whoops, that makes sense on the hidden file ending.

Just installed a GTX 680 card but still have the 9800 that was working and getting the same error.

Here are the dependency walkers outputs.

The gpu_entry.dwi file is currently 2.5+ megs and won't allow me to upload it to the forum.

Thanks for all your help.

Hi Brendan,

It's been a bit of a busy time for all of us here, so I apologize for the delays in responding.

I am working on a more permanent solution for you - basically it involves getting you the 32-bit files for your unique situation.

Hi Brendan,

I also sent this to you by email - just want to get the message to you, but I apologize for the redundancy.

I hope you are doing well.

I was able to generate an installer that fixes your issue on our test system. I need your help to confirm that the fix works on your system.
If you agree, I can get you the link to an installer that contains this fix.

Let me know.

The installer worked for 32 bit. Thanks a bunch. I did notice during the installation process it does pop up a window saying an existing version of the installer is running, even though I was only running one installation program. I just ignored it and everything ran smoothly. Thanks again.

Great, thanks for the feedback! It's conceivable the message was because you may have opened two instances of the install by mistake - that happens to me a few times. I'll close the support ticket open in our system.
