Jacket HPC Startup Issue

Postby acerj » Wed Apr 25, 2012 7:18 pm

I'm having trouble getting Jacket HPC to start up.

I can successfully run a ginfo command on the worker nodes when I am ssh'ed into the command lines. However, if I try to do this from an spmd block as suggested on the wiki to test the installation, I run into trouble.

If the gpus have been accessed outside of the spmd block (ie locally), then I get this error:

src/license.cpp:372: mgl license is not available,
please contact sales@accelereyes.com

Error stack:
gselect.m at 3
ginfo.m at 67

When I say access the gpus locally, I use this from the ssh'ed command line:

./matlab -dmlworker -nodisplay -r "ver;addpath('/usr/local/jacket/jacket/engine');ginfo;exit"

If I try to access the gpus for the first time from the spmd block that has been opened via a matlabpool command, I get the following error:

CUDA runtime error: no CUDA-capable device is detected
For more information on this error, read the FAQ entry
for Error 4:

Error stack:
gselect.m at 3
ginfo.m at 67

Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Alex,
Hopefully we resolved everything on the phone.

On our end, we made notes to package jacketd with the installers, and fix the licensing bug you ran into. We also are brainstorming ways to eliminate the need for jacketd or at least make it so not necessary on all the slave nodes.
