How to install Jacket OpenCL versions?

Postby rollyng » Tue Dec 13, 2011 2:08 am

Hello,
I have downloaded the new OpenCL versions under my account but found those are .zip files without installer? How can I install those OpenCl versions?
Please help!
Btw, I am running ubuntu 11.04 x64 with Matlab 2010b :)
Thanks!

Just unzip the package and you are good to go.

Hi, may be my question is not clear. Where should I place these unzipped files for it to work in matlab?
for example, /usr/local/MATLAB/R2010b/toolbox?
Or I should install the CUDA version first then overwrite the engine folder with that of the OpenCL?
Thanks!

Hi,

To run OpenCL Jacket, please do the following:

1. Make sure the LD_LIBRARY_PATH is set correctly pointing to the OpenCL_Jacket/lib64
2. Addpath to the OpenCL_Jacket/engine folder
3. Do ginfo and you should see the list of OpenCL devices.

Hi,

I have copied these folders to /usr/local/jacket

But I am not sure if this is the correct way of adding the LD_LIBRARY_PATH in Ubuntu 11.04?
(1) sudo gedit /etc/ld.so.conf.d/jacket.conf
(2) add this line to jacket.conf "/usr/local/jacket/lib64" and save it
(3) sudo ldconfig, but it shows "/sbin/ldconfig.real: /usr/local/jacket/lib64/libclAmdBlas.so.1 is not a symbolic link", is this a error or warning? can I ignore it?

After that I started matlab and addpath /usr/local/jacket/engine

When I enter ginfo, it shows:
>> ginfo

Scanning system for OpenCL devices....

Arrayfire (OpenCL alpha)
Device0: Cayman (in use)
Device1: Cayman
Device2: Cayman
Device3: Cayman
Device4: Cayman
Device5: Cayman
Device6: Cayman
Device7: Cayman
Device8: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5620 @ 2.40GHz

I suppose this is done? Am I correct? Thanks!

Hi,

Please keep Jacket OpenCL version in a separate folder and don't merge with Jacket CUDA version. What GPUs do you have in the system? There seems to be some problem as ginfo is listing the 'cayman' device many times.

Hi,
There is nothing wrong with ginfo because I have 4 HD6990s installed in the system. So it is correct show all 8 GPUs.
Thanks!

Hi ,

Can someone explain how to set up Jacket on Windows OS please.

I have unzipped , added the Jacket engine path to the sys variables , copied the trial license in the engine folder , butt when I attempt to run gactivate in matlab it says it does not exist ( added Jacket & subfolders to Mlab. path ) , and ginfo says that the ginfo.p file is broken or something similar to that.

Am I missing something ?

Please post any relevant knowledge.

Matlab: R2009b

O.S.: Win 7 64 bit

GPU: AMD-Ati Radeon HD 6750

Driver packaging version: 8.961-120405a-137813C-ATI

As I said before , I unzipped the OpenCL version , copied the jlicense.dat to the engine folder , added the path to the environment variables (and rebooted) , and ran :

>> ginfo
??? Undefined function or variable 'devices'.

Error in ==> D:\LICENTA\oclJacket_Win32\oclJacket_Win32\engine\ginfo.p>ginfo
at 1

>> gactivate
??? Undefined function or variable 'gactivate'.

Is this the proper procedure to set up Jacket OpenCL ?
