invalid compiled kernel

Postby kunstmusic » Tue May 14, 2013 9:47 am

After updating the CUDA driver I can no longer run any of the examples. I get this message instead:
src/gena/gcache.cpp:33: CUDA driver error: invalid compiled kernel (209)
I have tried
make clean
make
but this has not helped.
How can I clear the gcache?
------
CUDA Driver Version: 319.17
OS: Linux 3.2.0-41-generic SMP x86_64
arrayfire version 1.9
P.S. all the CUDA samples in the NVIDIA Toolkit do work.

Thanks

Hi,

We have noticed some aspects of CUDA (not just arrayfire) having trouble with the 319 driver. Can you downgrade the driver and check to see if arrayfire works ?

Hi,

Unfortunately, as noted above, ArrayFire does have known issues with the 319.x linux drivers. We usually recommend using the 304.x or 310.x versions. If you have already tried the 304.x drivers, hopefully you will have success with the 310.x drivers (http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux-disp ... river.html). Our machines are all running either 304.x or 310.x versions. Sorry to hear you are having issues, I hope this helps.

I am also getting the same error..
Is downgrading the only solution?

ArrayFire v1.9.1 will be available by the end of the week with a fix to compensate for these new drivers.

I'm having the same issue with ArrayFire 1.9 on a Windows 7 32 bit system with CUDA 5. The system is running a GeForce 680. I've tried a number of GeForce video drivers including the 3.10.90 and 3.20.18 and reinstalling CUDA 5, but the problem still persists.

blip, 2 questions:

1) Why are you using win 32 and not win 64?

2) ArrayFire works best with NVIDIA CUDA drivers 319.26 and later on Linux and in 320.27 and later on Windows. Driver versions prior to this are known to have errors.

John, I have ArrayFire running on Windows 7 32 bit (GeForce GTX 680) and one on Windows 7 64 bit (GeForce GTX 660). Both are running the same nVidia graphics driver and CUDA 5. The 64 bit system doesn't seem to exhibit any kernel errors, but the 32 bit system does. I have upgraded and downgraded the nVidia graphics driver without any luck. Is there a CUDA driver distribution that is separate from the CUDA 5 installer and the nVidia GTX 600 series WQHL driver?

blip,

OK, let me explain: Win 32 is its own beast and has it's own set of problems. We are planning on removing Win 32 support from ArrayFire in the future, unless there is a compelling reason why we should keep it around.

Can you motivate any reason why Win 32 is important to you other than you are just trying it out on a piece of hardware that happens to have Win 32 support? This kind of feedback is very helpful.

Thanks,

John
