Activation Error, Need Help. Thanks

Postby ScottWang » Mon Sep 19, 2011 6:35 pm

I am trying to install the trial version Jacket.

I generated a trial license and put it in the engine folder. In Matlab when I run:

>> gactivate

I got following error message:

Mex file entry point is missing. Please check the (case-sensitive)
spelling of mexFunction (for C MEX-files), or the (case-insensitive)
spelling of MEXFUNCTION (for FORTRAN MEX-files).
JACKET FAILED TO ACTIVATE PROPERLY.
??? Invalid MEX-file '/usr/local/jacket/engine/getmac.mexglx': .
Error in ==> /usr/local/jacket/engine/gactivate.p>print_hostids at 174
Error in ==> /usr/local/jacket/engine/gactivate.p>gactivate at 109

Can anyone help me point out what is the problem?

Thanks

ScottWang,

That issue was fixed a while ago - can you download the latest installer from http://www.accelereyes.com/nightly and let me know if that fixes the issue? Your existing license file will work for this installation.

We are in the process of releasing a new version of Jacket - this new version will also contain the fix.

Hi,

I still can not activate it. When I type "gactivate", my Matlab 2010a will automatically shut down.

Did you ever see this kind of problem?

Thanks

ScottWang,

Are you sure you completely wiped out all installations of Jacket from your system before installing this new version of Jacket?
Can you send me your system details as described in http://www.accelereyes.com/support/technical_support?

My Matlab Version is : 7.10.0.499 (R2010a)
I can not get information from "ginfo" or "gactivate", because the Matlab will crash after typing in the commands.

But I just installed another version of Matlab in the same machine, 2011a. The Jacket works fine in this Matlab.

>> ginfo
Jacket v1.8.1 (build ed9a67d) by AccelerEyes (32-bit Linux)
License Type: Designated Computer (/usr/local/jacket/engine/jlicense.dat)
License expires in 14 days.
Licenses: JMC, SDK, DLA, SLA, 16 GPUs
CUDA toolkit 4.0, driver 270.41.19
GPU0 Quadro FX 380, 256 MB, Compute 1.1 (single)
Display Device: GPU0 Quadro FX 380
Memory Usage: 16 MB free (256 MB total)

What will the problem be for my Matlab R2010a? Thanks

ScottWang,

Does MATLAB 2010a give you any error messages? Can you take a screenshot of those messages?
Was that ginfo printout from a new MATLAB session? [Did you close all MATLABs before typing ginfo?]

Hi,

The MATLAB 2010a didnt give me any error message. After inputing command ginfo, it will run for a second and crash.

Yes, that ginfo printout is from the new MATLAB, R2011a version.

That's very strange behavior. MATLAB 2010a does work with Jacket, so I don't know what the issue is. Are you sure the installation is correct?
If your install of 2011A is working with Jacket, I advise that you work on that.

Your ginfo printout shows 16 MB free, which sounds like another issue you are facing. Can you try installing the latest NVIDIA driver from http://www.nvidia.com/drivers? [please make sure that you select the right GPU, Operating System etc].

Yes, I also realized the "16MB" issue. But this is the nightly installer version of Jacket.

Before when I installed the "Jacket-linux-1.8.1-20110822.run", the "gactivate" command did give me some feed back before it crashed. It was in my second post of this topic. You can see that the free memory is 180 MB.

So should I uninstall this nightly version and try the "Jacket-linux-1.8.1-20110822.run" with MATLAB 2011a?

Thanks

ScottWang,
Thanks for the info. I'd like to see the results with the latest driver first, actually.

Hi,

I just switched back to "Jacket-linux-1.8.1-20110822.run". It does not work with Matlab R2011a.

It can not activate successfully, but it will not crash Matlab. Please take a look at the following information:

ScottWang,

The latest NVIDIA driver (from the NVIDIA website) is 280.13. Please select your NVIDIA GPU, Operating System, and select the "Search Drivers" button from:
http://www.nvidia.com/drivers

As for the issue you see with the 1.8.1 installer, that error was fixed in the nightly, so the nightly should be the way for you to go ahead.

Hi Scott,
I just noticed your issue here, and saw our reply was incomplete: the issue you faced was a transient build issue. We resolved it soon after release and put up new versions, but you grabbed the installers during that bad window.

Could you grab the current installers and give it another whirl?

Very sorry we didn't diagnose this correctly at the time.
