not recognizable as a P-file

Postby flaxonline » Tue Sep 21, 2010 9:51 am

Hello,
I have just installed jacket 1.5 (after unistalling 1.4),
but now in matlab I get the following error for every command I type

Code: Select all
>> ginfo
??? File "C:\Programs\AccelerEyes\Jacket\engine\ginfo.p" not recognizable as a P-file.

I am using Matlab 7.4.0.287 (R2007a)

thanks

I had postedabout a warning that sounds like it's related.
If I had to guess, it seems that Mathworks made a change in P-code somewhere around R2007 and there's an incompatibility between new and old pcode.
I'm not sure what the solution would be.

Hi,

For now, if you still have the jacket 1.4 installation somewhere on the machine, you can copy the ginfo.p file from the engine directory to the engine directory of jacket 1.5.
You can repeat the process for other p files that you are unable to read.
ofcourse there are some new functions that have been added whose p files you may not find in 1.4
You can look at the list of functions that have been added here (http://wiki.accelereyes.com/wiki/index. ... 010_-_v1.5)
in addition interp1, hist have been changed from mex files to p files.
so if you need any of the functions in the list that you can not use, email us (support@accelereyes.com), we will try to figure out something.

Hi there,

This problem is arising because the p-coder employed has been updated to a newer version. We've posted a special installer here that should work with MATLAB 2007a : http://www.accelereyes.com/special/Jack ... 100923.run . You should be able to use this to run Jacket 1.5 - give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Is there something like that for windows?

Thanks

Hi flaxonline,

You can find a Windows version that works with this version of MATLAB here: http://www.accelereyes.com/special/Jack ... 0-8250.exe . Apologies for the delay - I mistakenly assumed that you were using Jacket on Linux.

It gives me a problem in the license file now:

>> ginfo()
??? No available Jacket license found or license is invalid. Please insert Jacket license at <Install Directory>/engine/jlicense.dat, and restart MATLAB. (toolbox/frontend/gpu_entry.cu:388)

My Maintenance Expiration is on 04/13/11. Do I need another kind of license or there is something is not working?
Thank you again for your help

Hi flaxonline,

You shouldn't be needing a different license to get around this problem. Did the new installer download a license file for you when you installed Jacket?

Can you verify that you have license file (jlicense.dat) in the engine directory of Jacket? If you don't have a file present there, you can download your license file by logging in at https://www.accelereyes.com/customer/account/login/ (Go to Manage Licenses once you login) and place the file in the "engine" directory.

If you have the jlicense.dat file present in the engine directory, can you reproduce its contents to us? (You can PM me if you don't want to put it out on the public forum) . We'll have a look to see if something in the license generator went wrong.

In Jacket 1.6.1 (and later), we’ve enabled you to run with older versions of MATLAB. During the installation process, you will be asked to indicate your MATLAB version. You will select the older version and the correct P-files will be installed. If you are running an older version of MATLAB, please download and use Jacket 1.6.1 or later.

That is true. As melonakos pointed out, installers from Jacket 1.6.1 onwards allow the user to install a set of .p files compatible with their version of MATLAB.

Hi Laxman,

This problem comes up because files p-coded with R2008 are not recognizable by older versions of MATLAB. Jacket ideally should have installed .p files compatible with your version of MATLAB. The installer would have asked you to choose which version of MATLAB you were installing Jacket for. Could you please reinstall and make sure that you are choosing the right version of MATLAB?

kashi,

Thank you for the note about 2007a. We will need to see what might be going on and if necessary, give you a fix. We'll keep you posted.

Hello Vish,

Thank you for your reply.
At this time, I'm using another (Dr.Larsen wrote) xcorr function and It works well.
http://wiki.accelereyes.com/wiki/index.php/Fast_Computation_of_Cross_Correlation
So, problem has gone away now.
